Page 1: Information about the study and taking part

Why do you want me to fill in this questionnaire?

You have been asked to complete this questionnaire because you are a physiotherapist working with adults who could benefit from being more active. The aim of this study is to investigate knowledge, beliefs and attitudes of physiotherapists towards promotion of active travel for these patients. Active travel means making everyday journeys in physically active ways, for example walking, cycling and wheeling to work, school, shops, or other destinations, distinct from leisure time physical activity.

This information would help us designing future strategies aimed at having more physiotherapists promoting active travel.

Who has approved this study?

This study has been reviewed and received ethical approval from Queen Margaret University Research Ethics Committee. You may have a copy of this approval if you request it.

What if I don't want to do this?

It is entirely up to you to decide whether to take part in this study. If you decide to do so, you will be asked to complete an electronic anonymised consent form. Only when you click on ‘submit’ at the end of the survey, will your responses be saved on the anonymous database. Deciding not to complete this questionnaire will not affect your physiotherapy practice.

How long will it take and can I choose which questions I answer?

Completing the questionnaire should take around 15 minutes. You can select 'prefer not to say' for any questions you do not wish to answer, but the more information you give us, also by writing additional comments, the more you help us with this research.

What will happen with my answers to the questions?

All the information we collect about physiotherapists will be kept securely and anonymously. The questionnaire is designed in such a way that you cannot be identified from the answers that you provide.

Please remember not to add any information that might identify you or another person (for example names of people or places) when you are replying in comments boxes.

What will happen to the information which I give?

All the information you provide will be inputted to a password protected digital database. This database will be kept by the researcher and dissertation supervisor of the study. The datasets will be kept for at least 10 years. Once we have analysed the answers, we will write a report. We may publish the results in scientific journals or present them at conferences and events.

If you agree to take part in the study, please proceed to the next section. When filling in the questonnaire, please do not disclose any information that can identify you.
